ITU Informatics Institute, Information and Communications Engineering Program Ph.D. student Hakan Alakoca’s study within the scope of TÜBİTAK 1001 Project titled “Ultra-Connectivity for 6G Wireless Communications: UAV and Intelligent Reflective Surface Enabled Heterogeneous Network Design” was published in IEEE Communications Magazine.
The researchers Hakan Alakoca, Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Namdar, Assoc. Prof. Sultan Aldirmaz-Colak, Dr. Mehmet Başaran, Asst. Prof. Arif Basgumus, Prof. Dr. Lutfiye Durak-Ata, and Prof. Dr. Halim Yanikomeroglu studied various physical layer security vulnerabilities for signal processing mechanisms on intelligent reflective surfaces in 6G networks.
The article titled “Metasurface Manipulation Attacks: Potential Security Threats of RIS-Aided 6G Communications” was selected by IEEE Communications Society as one of the IEEE Best Readings of the last 5 years (2018-2023) in the field of physical layer security for 6G networks.
